When I checked back with the customer, they also confirmed Chrome was being used.Īlthough I’m not providing this article to persuade you to use another browser for the Vault Thin Client, at this point I just wanted to share with you how your (Vault) file naming convention could impact the downloading operation based on the browser being used for the Thin Client.

If I repeated the process using IE or Firefox, I was able to download the file with no issue. When I used Chrome to access the Vault Thin Client and download my test file, the same error message appeared. To confirm my suspicion, I created a file in Vault that contained a comma in its name. When I researched the message I found numerous hits related to this message when Chrome was used to download files that had commas present in the file name. So when the second case arrived, my first reaction was “ I’m wondering if this issue was also related to a certain browser?” Sure enough it was… It appears this issue has been around for a few years (in regards to Firefox) and in one article I came across, someone reported there is no (Mozilla) plan to fix it. If the same file is downloaded through IE or Chrome there’s no issue. So I started digging around, asking some questions and I finally discovered this issue is just related to using Mozilla Firefox. For example, “MY INVENTOR.ipt” would be downloaded as “MY”. When I started researching the first case, I ended up duplicating the same issue when the file name had a space in it. The first case, the user reported the name of the file was being truncated and the file extension was also lost and in the other case, this error appeared when the user tried to download a file. In the past couple of weeks I have received two help desk cases about issues related to downloading files through the Vault Thin (web) Client.
